Leading Myself

"Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others" (Jack Welch).  Before you can lead any one, you must be able to lead yourself!

The choices we make in life shape our future.  There are so many choices to make in this life.  Choices like salvation, which church to attend, which career to pursue, who to marry, where to live or even how to live have to be made. You are responsible. You can make the impact that you desire by beginning to lead yourself!

Make good, practical choices and make attainable goals. Down the line reassess and see if it is the right way. Be ready for turn around if you realize that is not the way for you. The prodigal son led himself into misery when he left his father’s house into the distant land where he squandered his livelihood. When he came to his senses, he decided to lead himself back home.                                                                            "I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee," (Luke 15:18)                                                                                                                                                          What a difference that made in his life!

If there is a decision to be made, got to make it quickly. Indecision is the bane of many a failure. Some people actually get to see that they need to make a decision but they are afraid to do so. when they think of the hurdles that they have to overcome, they simply give up!  Do not ever give up!

Once you have made the choice, plan and implement the plan quickly! Any procrastination will kill the dream!

“Be a Strong Leader, Even If You Follow a Weak Leader” (Miles Anthony Smith, Why Leadership Sucks: Fundamentals of Level 5 Leadership and Servant Leadership)

Begin to lead yourself today! Lead yourself into the things the LORD has in store for you. Learn to motivate yourself.  David knew this secret very well.

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.” (I Samuel 30:6)

Do not look down on yourself.

“And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.” (Numbers 13:33)

You will do well, start leading yourself. You can do it! Begin to lead yourself today!
